Job Summary of the of the Compliance Manager, HR and Labor Relations position
Integr8staff seeks a skilled and accomplished Senior Manager, HR and Labor Relations to lead enterprise-wide adherence to all U.S. federal and state employment laws, legal standards and in-house policies and procedures. He/she supports operations within these laws, standards, policies and procedures. He/she will perform risk assessments, legal research, advise, and recommend actions in various HR areas to mitigate company exposure, manage risk, uphold standards, and maintain company values. The role is responsible for defining and completing required annual compliance activities, managing the relationship between HR and the business, and enhancing the adoption of company policies, HR processes, and transition to HR Shared Services.
Responsibilities of the Compliance Manager, HR and Labor Relations position
Establish an annual compliance plan and manage completion of activities.
Introduce HR policies, procedures and programs, ensuring consistent application to provide solutions in compliance with company policy and applicable laws.
Work closely with Talent Management to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Participate in the talent acquisition process and at times may conduct new hire on-boarding process as back-up to the Talent Management Team.
Ensure key activities are in compliance with all state and federal employment regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO and FLSA), as well as background checks and terminations.
Work with HR personnel, Legal Counsel and others to resolve complex employee relations issues and assists with effective recommendation for resolutions.
Work closely with company’s Risk Management team to ensure Corporate and field office HR risks are identified in risk reviews.
Facilitate assigned activities in support of organizational change management initiatives, such as training, coaching and communications as needed.
Support other groups, as requested, and in the absence of the VP Health and Human Resources.
Stay abreast of U.S. regulatory developments at the local, state and federal level.
Recommend best practices to comply with new laws enterprise-wide, and communicate changes to the appropriate stakeholders.
Work with appropriate parties to determine necessary changes to policies or procedures and assist in development and execution of rollout plan.
Conduct compliance audits in an effort to identify and address hidden risks.
Provide oversight and administration of compliance training program, including live training (e.g. Code of Conduct) as well as all online training courses.
Facilitate meetings with compliance training committee (CFO, SVP & General Counsel, VP HR, VP Internal Audit, VP Controller) to evaluate or update course content and execute rollout plan as approved.
Oversee analytics to ensure compliance with FLSA standards across the organization.
Oversee annual preparation of EEO-1 reporting.
Work with field management to ensure sites have the most up to date legal information posted.
Manage I-9/ E-verify compliance program for organization.
Work with Leave of Absence Manager to develop metrics and reporting for presentation to VP, Health, and HR.
Manage annual Collective Bargaining Renewal Schedule, organizing personnel in preparation for bargaining activities, and managing all agreed to documentation.
Work with Corporate Legal, Negotiation Team, and HR Benefits in negotiations, e.g. Pension Fund Contributions and Wage and Hour Laws.
Function as advisor to special projects requiring CBA/HR input related to labor relations.
Responsible for continuous improvement and administration of the annual performance management process for company’s Corporate.
Works closely with HR Benefits and Accounting on annual compensation process.
Requirements of the Compliance Manager, HR and Labor Relations position
8+ years of related human resources compliance experience.
Bachelor's degree required
Experience in manufacturing or other environment with a large hourly (blue-collar) employee population and multiple locations preferred.
Union experience preferred.
Knowledge of employment law/regulations in multiple states (ADA, EEOC, DFEH, etc).
Expert verbal and written communication skills; bilingual English-Spanish preferred.
Proficient organizational and project-management skills.
Proficiency in use of Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; Dayforce and ServiceNow.
Track record of forming trusted advisor partnerships with business leaders on all employee management concerns, situations, and questions.
In-depth knowledge of HR processes, practices and procedures.
Skilled in examining operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures in line with Company objectives.
Demonstrated success in conducting employee investigations on highly sensitive matters such as sexual harassment, age discrimination, etc.
Proven experience working with inside/outside counsel, company management to identify proper course of action and resolve issues.
Ability to develop, plan and implement short- and long-term goals.
Skilled at producing HR compliance reports, HR metrics etc.
