Job Summary of the Database Administrator position
Integr8staff seeks a seasoned Database Administrator to build, optimize and maintain conceptual and logical database models for a global environmental technology company. In general, the Database Administrator will develop database solutions to ensure company information is stored effectively and securely.
Responsibilities of the Database Administrator position
Analyze system requirements and implement migration methods for existing data.
Monitor database performance and decipher complex information from a various source
Create user profiles and ensuring system security
Supervision of modifications to any existing database software
Maintain the integrity and performance of company databases
Ensure data is stored securely and optimally
Provide users with updates of changes in databases and offer training.
Allocate the database system’s physical requirements; disk space, network requirements, etc.
Modify database structure using information provided by application developers.
Ensure compliance of database license agreements; installations, licensing renewals. Etc.
Create a backup and recovery strategy for the database, and regularly testing
Monitor technical support for both database systems and related applications.
Create reports by querying from database using application front-end, or custom-made ad hoc.
Monitor and optimize the database’s performance using manual or automated tools.
Migrate database instances to new hardware, new versions, from on-premise or to cloud-based
Participate in company's cross-training program
Other projects as assigned
Requirements of the Database Administrator position
5+ years of enterprise-level data warehousing and data mining work experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field
Proficiency in MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, MySQL, MSSQL, Always On
Advanced knowledge of database structure, automation, log shipping and theory
Solid understanding of disaster recovery, database backup procedures
Skilled with Kibana reporting tools and data reporting process.
Understand complex systems, replication and able to build an efficient database
Effectively troubleshoot resolve problems
Ability to work effectively, independently with minimal supervision and assistance
Exceptional communication with managers, developers, and other team members
Able to deal with multiple priorities simultaneously will be the key to success in this position
Occasional travel may be required
Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screen
